Job summary

KAISER in Irvine, CA is seeking an ER Assistant to perform routine patient care duties under supervision, including assisting in treatment rooms and adhering to standard nursing practices.

The role requires EMT or Paramedic certification with at least six months of acute care experience, good communication skills, and ability to assist in emergencies, administer basic care, and support physicians and nurses in the Emergency Services department.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six months (1,040 hours) experience in Hospital Acute Care, in the field, or in an Emergency Department as an EMT or Paramedic.
• Good verbal and written communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Completes documentation and serves as information source for patients when appropriate.
• Promotes teamwork among co-workers and adheres to nursing standards of care.
• Instructs patients on general health and basic self care procedures.
• Assists physicians and nurses in procedures and emergencies.
• Monitors patient vital signs and responds to emergencies (Code Blues).
• Performs basic nursing support activities such as preparing rooms, passing instruments, and transporting patients.
• Records procedures and patient information during emergencies and coordinates with departments as needed.
