Job summary

Allegheny General Hospital’s Emergency Department is a Level 1 Trauma Center with a 35-bed unit, undergoing expansion to a new 48-bed ED by 2027. The department served over 45,000 patients in 2024, averaging about 125 patients per day.

The ED seeks a Registered Nurse responsible for nursing care, assessment, and collaboration with the multidisciplinary team from admission to discharge. Rotation with weekends/holidays is required; unionized environment and full-time status are noted.

Qualifications

• Current State RN licensure (PA) or multi-state licensure (eNLC)
• Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
• Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
• CPR certification (AHA)

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates clinical assessment skills and care planning skills.
• Provides safe and effective care for the age population served according to regulatory requirements.
• Directs and manages patient care delivery by the team members.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary team for the plan of care from admission through discharge.
• Assesses learning needs of patient and family and provides education based on age, culture and willingness to learn.
