Job summary

Koch Fertilizer is seeking an Emergency Response Specialist to support our Wever, Iowa facility. This role provides leadership for site emergency preparedness and response programs, partnering with Operations, Maintenance and EHS teams to advance safety and regulatory compliance.

The position offers the opportunity to lead critical emergency response capabilities to protect people, assets, and the environment.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of health, safety, or emergency response experience in industrial settings.
• Experience with safety regulations and emergency procedures.
• Ability to join and maintain Emergency Response Team membership.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and perform physical duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and wearing PPE.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support the site Emergency Response Team (ERT), including Fire Brigade, EMS, Technical Rescue, and HazMat responses.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external agencies for effective incident response.
• Develop, facilitate, and evaluate ERT training programs and drills.
• Develop and maintain emergency response strategies, pre-plans, and site-specific procedures.
• Manage inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems and gas detection equipment.
• Support injury response and investigations, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions.
• Build relationships with local emergency management and community response organizations.
