Valley Medical Center in Renton, WA seeks an Emergency Preparedness Specialist to lead the development and ongoing maintenance of the organization’s Emergency Management Program from an All Hazards perspective. You will coordinate training, drills, and cross‑departmental initiatives to ensure readiness and compliance across local, state, and national partners.

Strong communication, teamwork, and program development skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; an additional 4 years of relevant work experience may substitute the degree.
  • Minimum 3 years supporting emergency response or related areas such as disaster preparedness, environmental health and safety, fire safety or incident command systems.
  • Completion of FEMA IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800 within six months of hire.
  • Completion of FEMA Professional Development Series or Professional Continuity Practitioner is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Emergency Management Program across the organization.
  • Implement and maintain Emergency Management standards for all departments.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local and Joint Commission requirements.
  • Inform staff of changes in codes and procedures as needed.
  • Conduct ongoing emergency management education and training needs assessments.
  • Review and revise emergency plans, policies and procedures annually.
  • Design, develop, maintain and test business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Coordinate with IT and other units to ensure readiness for disasters.
