Job summary

University of Washington Medical Center’s UW Emergency Management (UWEM) seeks a Deputy Director to ensure enterprise-wide emergency preparedness. This role reports to the Director and steers operational readiness, guides the ICT/EOC/URC teams, and collaborates with internal and external partners across Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma campuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a related field, with progressive experience in emergency preparedness or disaster operations.
• Strong leadership and communication abilities are essential.
• Ability to guide internal and external partners and manage cross-campus coordination.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in the absence of the Director and guide emergency management protocols and procedures.
• Lead development, evaluation, and implementation of emergency management standards compliant with policies and standards.
• Coordinate high-stress exercises and ensure readiness of EOC resources across UW locations.
• Oversee ICT, EOC, URC response teams, and ensure cross-campus alignment of readiness efforts.
• Support Crisis Communications and Business Continuity efforts during incidents.
• Represent UWEM on committees and boards as assigned.
