Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a Psychiatric Technician to join the Emergency Psychiatric Empath Unit at Generose 2W. You will participate in direct and indirect patient care for adults and children, promote a safe environment, and support multidisciplinary treatment plans.

Responsibilities include leading social activities, assisting with daily living needs, and ensuring timely, patient-centered care in a fast-paced, psychiatric setting. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Experience in a psychiatric hospital setting as a mental health or behavioral assistant - or completion of 12 college credits preferred.
• Experience with 24/7 residential programs or psychiatry/psychology-based programs preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations in stressful and ambiguous situations.
• Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and electronic clinic documentation.
• Demonstrates ability to multitask under stressful situations.
• Ability to communicate, collaborate and manage relationships with interdisciplinary members while maintaining patient/family centeredness and safety.
• Basic skills in cleaning, cooking, and meal preparation.

Responsibilities

• Support residents in treatment programs and participate in direct and indirect patient care.
• Lead social activities, games and crafts that promote engagement in milieu and therapy concepts.
• Contribute to safety observation, milieu assessment and escalation of concerns as part of the care team.
• Assist with coordination of activities and daily living tasks as directed.
