Job summary

Tarrant County is seeking a Public Health Emergency Preparedness Specialist to support daily public health functions and act as a PHEP subject-matter expert across partnerships. The role includes coordinating outreach, maintaining the HAN database, and supporting emergency responses and drills.

The position emphasizes independent judgment, on-call rotations, and collaboration with multiple departments and community partners to enhance public health readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• Two years’ experience in public health emergency preparedness, emergency management, public health, or community outreach.
• HAM Radio Technician license or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a PHEP subject-matter expert and develops PHEP presentations.
• Coordinates community outreach and education for diverse groups.
• Oversees safety warden program and training, and prepares After-Action Reports (AARs).
• Maintains Health Alert Network (HAN) database and tracks inventory for audit purposes.
• Coordinates safety drills and supports MRC events and emergency-response operations.
• Maintains HAN communications and conducts training for staff.
