Job summary

Harnett County is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator to supervise and coordinate the county's emergency management, SARA Title III hazmat, and radiological preparedness programs. The role includes developing and maintaining emergency plans, coordinating agencies, and managing the EOC during disasters.

The position requires a 4-year degree in emergency management or related field and ~5 years of related experience, with certifications in emergency management and hazmat areas.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in emergency management or a related field.
• Five (5) years of related work experience in emergency management planning and coordination.
• Or equivalent education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, implement, and maintain countywide emergency response plans addressing mitigation, response and recovery.
• Coordinate and manage Emergency Operations Center during disasters.
• Coordinate with nursing homes, hospitals, schools, and other facilities on emergency plans.
• Administer SARA Title III hazardous materials program; liaise with industry on planning/compliance procedures.
• Train local agencies and responders on Radiological Emergency Preparedness; manage radiation detection equipment.
