Job summary

The City of Austin’s Public Library system seeks an Emergency Planning Coordinator to lead readiness efforts, develop safety protocols, and coordinate response planning across departments. You will manage COOP activities, participate in EOC drills, liaise with HSEM and CAPCOG, write manuals and training materials, and support grant processes.

A Bachelor’s degree plus four years in emergency planning is required; Texas Driver’s License is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree + 4 years of emergency response or planning experience.
• One additional year of experience may substitute for one year of education (up to 4 years).

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing short- and long-term planning goals for the department.
• Identify capability gaps and funding opportunities.
• Oversee COOP planning.
• Participate in EOC activations, drills and exercises.
• Attend meetings with HSEM, CAPCOG, and partner agencies.
• Develop and maintain cooperative agreements.
• Maintain interlocal agreements.
• Assist in hazard material cost recovery.
• Develop, write, publish operating manuals, reports, and training materials.
• Participate in grant processes.
