Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking an Emergency Planning Coordinator to design response procedures and ensure operational readiness for protective, safety, and relief services during emergencies. You will develop emergency plans, coordinate COOP activities, and participate in EOC activations and drills.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of emergency planning or response experience, plus a Class C Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a field related to the job, plus four (4) years of emergency response or planning.
• Class C Texas Driver’s License required.
• Must have ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the development of short- and long-term planning goals and objectives for the department.
• Oversees and coordinates Continuity of Operations (COOP) planning.
• Participates in Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations, emergency drills and exercises.
• Attends meetings with City of Austin Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM), Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG), and other partner agencies.
• Develops, writes, and publishes operating manuals, technical reports, and training materials.
• Participates in the grant process, including grant planning, application, and implementation.
