Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an ED Tech, you will provide crucial support and direct patient care in the fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring efficient operations and compassionate assistance during critical moments.

• Assist with patient admissions and discharges, perform vital signs and basic medical procedures, maintain a clean and organized environment, and meticulously document observations to support the nursing staff and physician team.
• Demonstrate outstanding adaptability, strong communication skills, and a calm, proactive demeanor, contributing significantly to timely patient care and a smooth-running ED.
• Utilize the AIDET principle to communicate with others, focusing on patients and their families (Acknowledge, Introduce, Explain, Duration, Thank).
• Report and document all care rendered to patient, patient/family.
• Report and document all changes in patients' conditions including behavior and psychosocial.
• Utilize Chain of Command appropriately as needed.
• Measure and record vital signs, including orthostatics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of vital sign ranges in all ranges and notify licensed nursing staff of any abnormal vital sign.
• Accurately measure and record weights on all patients in ED.

Job Requirements

Required

• One year previous direct patient care in an emergency department, ambulance, fire or emergent pre-hospital setting
• Basic Life Support - CPR through American Heart Association
• Emergency Medical Technician: CA, or
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Basic

Preferred

• EKG experience
