Job summary

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of licensed personnel. You will assist with daily living activities, clerical duties, and support the care of critically ill patients while aiding licensed staff in the ED.

Preferred qualifications include a High School diploma, AHA BLS, and California EMT or National EMT certification. Experience in acute or emergency care is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• CA EMT or National EMT certification (or CA EMT-Paramedic).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect patient care under licensed supervision.
• Assist with daily living activities and comfort measures.
• Provide clerical support and coordinate with licensed staff in critical care situations.
• Support workflow of unlicensed personnel in the department.

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an Emergency Department Technician for their Emergency department responsible for rendering direct and indirect patient care under direction of appropriate licensed personnel. Facilitates care to meet patient's daily living activity needs by providing clerical, physical and emotional support while assisting licensed personnel in management of critically ill patients. Assists with workflow of unlicensed assistive personnel in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

• Preferred: High school grad or equivalent.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

• Minimum: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS). Emergency Department: California Emergency Medical Technician certification or CA Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification, or National EMT certification.

Technical Requirements:

• Preferred: Ability to use computer charting (electronic medical record) and computer order entry.

Years of Related Work Experience:

• Preferred: Patient Care Tech or equivalent experience in an acute care, emergency or pre-hospital setting.
