Phaxis seeks a professional Telephone Operator to join a hospital communications team in Midtown Manhattan. The role focuses on fast, accurate handling of calls, paging, andOn-call coordination in a high‑pressure healthcare setting.

You will support emergency communications, maintain on‑call schedules, and ensure courteous, professional service for staff and callers in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
• Excellent telephone etiquette and customer service skills.
• Ability to remain calm and accurate during emergency situations.
• Strong computer and data-entry skills.
• AMCOM, paging system, Zetron, hospital switchboard, or answering service experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive, direct, and place internal and external telephone calls.
• Operate AMCOM PC operator workstation and call center systems.
• Initiate and manage paging requests through paging systems.
• Support emergency communications according to hospital procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation of emergency calls and notifications.
• Enter and maintain departmental on-call schedules in AMCOM system.
• Process physician answering service information.
• Assist with paging system updates and troubleshooting.
• Receive and document telecommunications trouble calls.
• Provide administrative and clerical support as needed.
• Deliver professional and timely customer service to hospital staff and callers.
