Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Ophthalmologist to provide specialized emergency ophthalmic care within the Jefferson Health Emergency Department in Philadelphia, PA. The physician will evaluate and treat urgent eye conditions, collaborate with emergency medicine and ophthalmology subspecialists, and participate in teaching residents and medical students.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology residency.
• Eligible for a Pennsylvania medical license.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage urgent ophthalmic conditions.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of urgent and emergent ophthalmic conditions in the ED.
• Manage a broad spectrum of acute eye issues including trauma and vision-threatening diseases.
• Collaborate with ophthalmology subspecialists and emergency medicine colleagues.
• Perform ophthalmic procedures appropriate to training and privileges.
• Supervise and educate residents and medical students as applicable.
• Contribute to clinical quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Engage in scholarly activities and teaching as part of an academic health system.
