Job summary

Jefferson Health in Philadelphia is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Academic Ophthalmologist to provide specialized emergency ophthalmic care within the Emergency Department. You will evaluate and treat urgent eye conditions and collaborate with emergency medicine and subspecialists.

This academically focused role offers teaching opportunities for residents and medical students, involvement in quality improvement, research, and scholarly activities within a leading academic health

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology residency.
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Eligible for unrestricted Pennsylvania medical licensure.
• Strong clinical skills in emergency ophthalmic care and excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage urgent and emergent ophthalmic conditions.
• Provide treatment for ocular trauma, acute vision loss, infections, inflammations, and other sight-threatening emergencies.
• Perform ophthalmic procedures consistent with training and clinical privileges.
• Collaborate with emergency medicine providers and ophthalmology subspecialists to coordinate care.
• Participate in resident, fellow, and medical student education and mentorship.
• Support patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based clinical practices.
• Engage in research, teaching, and other academic activities aligned with departmental goals.
