Job summary

Thurston County Emergency Management seeks an experienced Emergency Management Coordinator – Operations to strengthen readiness and sustain emergency operations.

The role leads ECC readiness, manages the Duty Officer program, develops procedures and tools, and oversees workforce training and COOP initiatives, working across county departments and with regional partners to improve operational capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration, education, industrial safety, law enforcement, or related field.
• Experience in emergency management or public safety coordination.
• Ability to translate policies into practical procedures and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead ECC readiness, including procedures, checklists, and equipment.
• Develop and maintain operational guidance for the Emergency Management Duty Officer program.
• Coordinate situational awareness and dashboards with partners.
• Coordinate ECC workforce training, qualification, and sustainment.
• Lead COOP program development and exercises; review continuity plans.
