Job summary

Thurston County Emergency Management is seeking an experienced Emergency Management Coordinator – Operations to strengthen readiness, coordinate ECC operations, and lead workforce development. You will craft procedures, lead training, and oversee COOP and continuity activities across county departments and regional partners.

The role emphasizes turning plans into actionable operations, collaboration, and proactive readiness, with telework options two days weekly and a strong focus on building

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, emergency management, or related field.
• Three years experience in emergency preparedness, public administration, or related area; substitutions possible.
• Ability to translate plans into practical procedures, checklists, and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational readiness of ECCs, including procedures, checklists, equipment, and systems.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and guidance for the Emergency Management Duty Officer program.
• Coordinate systems for situational awareness and a common operating picture during emergencies.
• Oversee ECC workforce training, recruitment, onboarding, and qualification standards.
• Lead COOP program development and support continuity of operations and government.
• Coordinate training, exercises, and after-action review processes for continuous improvement.
• Participate in emergency response and ECC activation as needed.
• Build relationships with county departments and external partners to support readiness.
