Job summary

State of Minnesota is seeking an On Call Snow Plow Operator for MnDOT District 3 in Motley, Wadena and Long Prairie. These emergency, on-call positions require quick reporting to work and a valid CDL with tanker endorsement.

Shifts are during snow/ice events with potential 12-hour periods and on-call rotations. Minimum qualifications include one year of related maintenance experience or an approved education substitution, plus ability to communicate in English and operate in a team environment.

Qualifications

• One year of snow/ice or related roadway maintenance experience.
• Education substitution: 60 semester credits in heavy equipment program substitutes for one year of experience.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Tanker Endorsement required and ability to communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Transfers anti-icing/de-icing chemicals and manages stockpiles.
• Install/maintain snow fences and report inventory data.
• Setups traffic control and notifies dispatch of incidents.
