Job summary

Minnesota Department of Transportation is seeking an On Call Snow Plow Operator for Wadena, Motley, and Long Prairie. These emergency on-call positions require rapid reporting to work during snow events, with day shifts and potential long shifts depending on weather.

Incumbents must hold a valid CDL with Tanker endorsement; working knowledge of English; prior snow/ice control and equipment operation experience is preferred. This is an on-call, emergency posting with intermittent hours.

Qualifications

• Experience: One year of snow and ice and related maintenance work.
• Education coursework can substitute for experience as described.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with a Tanker Endorsement and English proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post-storm cleanup.
• Transfers anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences and mailboxes.
• Maintains snow/ice data for inventory and resource reporting.
• Performs traffic control setups and notifies dispatch of disabled vehicles.
