Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation seeks two On Call / Emergency Snow Plow Driver positions in District 3 for Isle and Garrison. Incumbents must report within one hour of call and work day shifts Mon–Fri.

Duties include snow/ice control, equipment prep, and post-storm cleanup. Requirements include a valid Class A/B CDL with Tanker Endorsement, at least one year in snow/ice or related road maintenance, and English literacy.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities.
• Education substitution: Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance program (60 credits) can substitute for one year of experience.
• Valid Class A or B CDL with Tanker Endorsement.
• Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand information.
• Preferred MnDOT experience as Laborer, Transportation Associate or Transportation Generalist.

Responsibilities

• Maintains roadways for snow and ice control.
• Prepares and inspects winter equipment.
• Performs preseason snow route inspection and post storm cleanup.
• Performs winter stockpile setup and transfer of anti-icing and de-icing chemicals.
• Installs, repairs, maintains, and removes snow fences; replaces mailboxes.
