TriStar Horizon Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN for the Emergency Department. The role supports patient care under RN supervision, focusing on basic nursing tasks and ADL assistance within a busy ED.

The Nurse Extern must be enrolled in an accredited RN program, carry a current BLS certification, and complete required training, with potential progression to higher-responsibility roles upon competency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• BLS certification current at time of employment.
• Student currently enrolled in an accredited RN nursing program.
• Nurse Extern after first nursing semester or CNA in RN program first semester may be considered.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention obtained within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for patient populations in the department.
• Communicate pertinent information to appropriate individuals.
• Deliver compassionate, holistic care while upholding patient rights and dignity.
• Document patient care information in the appropriate computer screens.
• Assist with activities of daily living for assigned patients.
