Highmark Companies is seeking a skilled Mitigation Technician to respond to emergencies and restore properties affected by water, fire, and storm damage. The role requires an on-call rotation and travel to job sites, with a valid driver’s license and background check.

Qualifications

  • Experience in water and fire damage mitigation/restoration is beneficial.
  • IICRC certification in restoration is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of restoration equipment and tools is important.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Physical fitness to work in demanding conditions.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills are required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and ability to pass MVR.
  • DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Emergency Response – Participate in an on-call rotation and respond promptly to water, fire, and storm emergencies.
  • Damage Assessment – Evaluate the extent of damage and determine the appropriate mitigation scope.
  • Mitigation – Perform mitigation tasks to stabilize the property and prevent further damage.
  • Water Extraction – Extract standing water and set drying equipment to dry affected structures.
  • Fire Damage Cleanup – Clean soot, smoke, and fire-related residues from surfaces and contents.
  • Content Handling – Inventory, pack out, protect, and store customer contents with care.
  • Mold Remediation – Perform mold remediation following industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Documentation – Complete accurate moisture readings and before-and-after photos.
  • Equipment Maintenance – Maintain, clean, and stage drying and mitigation equipment.
  • Safety – Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.
  • Communication – Liaise with customers, adjusters, and internal teams.
  • Customer Service – Provide a professional, empathetic experience during stressful times.
  • Quality Control – Ensure work meets Highmark’s quality standards before completion.
  • Vehicle Management – Maintain and manage the company vehicle and equipment.
