Job summary

Meritus Health is seeking an Associate Program Director for a newly established Emergency Medicine Residency in Hagerstown, MD. This physician leader will help build the program, guide accreditation, and align with the health system's mission.

The role centers on curriculum development, resident education, and mentorship, with collaboration across departments and the new osteopathic school. MD/DO with license eligibility and EM board certification preferred.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in Maryland.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine by ABEM or AOBEM.
• Demonstrated commitment to medical education and resident teaching.
• Prior experience in graduate medical education (core faculty, assistant/associate program director, or similar role) preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Interest in curriculum development, mentorship, and academic medicine.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Program Director with preparation and submission of ACGME accreditation materials.
• Participate in curriculum design, implementation, and continuous improvement.
• Supervise, teach, and mentor residents in clinical and didactic settings.
• Contribute to resident evaluation, feedback, and milestone assessment processes.
• Support recruitment, selection, and onboarding of residents.
• Ensure compliance with ACGME and institutional policies.
• Participate in scholarly activity, quality improvement, and program innovation.
