Job description

Summary

The VA Maine HCS and the Togus VA Medical Center are seeking a full-time Emergency Medicine Physician to work at the Togus VA Medical Center in Augusta, Maine. The ED Physician provides acute and non-acute medical care to both ambulatory and critically ill patients within the VA Maine Healthcare System - Togus campus. The incumbent reports to the Emergency Department Co-Directors and the Chief of Medical Service.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license requirements may be temporarily accepted. Current VA-employed physicians who met the previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if no qualified citizens are available)
  • Doctor of Medicine or osteopathic medicine degree from an approved school
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
  • Completed residency training approved by the VA or equivalent experience
  • English proficiency
  • Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine
  • Current BLS, PALS, and ACLS certifications
Preferred Experience:

Emergency Department experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Heavy lifting (45 lbs and over), reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, kneeling, visual and hearing capabilities
