Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, Salisbury VA Medical Center, Salisbury, NC, seeks a Medical Officer of the Day to lead ED evaluation, stabilization and disposition of patients. The role encompasses clinical duties and administrative oversight within the Emergency Department and Service Line.

The candidate should hold an MD/DO with EM board certification or equivalent, complete residency training, and possess full licensure in the U.S.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship requirements as applicable by VA policy.
• MD degree from school approved by VA for year completed.
• Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. state/territory/DC.
• Residency training approved by VA in an accredited program leading to board eligibility.
• Any residency exceptions for PRPs as applicable.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the ED during tour.
• Supervise medical students or residents rotating through the ED when applicable.
• Maintain BLS/ACLS and EM board certification and ongoing core ED requirements.
• Attend committees or conference meetings as required.
• Participate in peer review and administrative supervision of the ED.
