Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, seeks an Emergency Department physician for Providence, RI. The incumbent will provide urgent care and manage acute emergencies in an intermittent permanent appointment with duties determined by the Section Chief.

The role includes supervising residents, maintaining BCLS/ACLS, and ensuring accurate medical documentation and credentialing compliant with VA standards.

Qualifications

• Must hold an MD or DO degree and full, unrestricted US medical license.
• Residency training approved by ACGME or AOA; board eligibility preferred for faculty.
• Board certification or eligibility in Emergency Medicine is preferred.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency department care for acute conditions and emergencies.
• Maintain BCLS and ACLS certifications; ensure credentialing and privileging requirements.
• Comply with documentation standards and participate in quality improvement.
• Supervise residents and medical students during ED rotations.
• Contribute to teaching activities and research as applicable.
