Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join the Emergency Medicine departments at Huntley/McHenry Woodstock Emergency Center in Illinois. The role involves direct patient care, comprehensive assessments, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

The position requires a Master’s degree (nursing or PA), IL RN/APRN licenses or PA license, and relevant certifications (BLS/ACLS, DEA). Preference for 1 year EM APP experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing or physician assistant program.
• FNPs must obtain Emergency Medicine certification.
• Licensed as RN in Illinois and APRN in Illinois, or PA license IL.
• Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).
• BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.
• ACLS certification as required by department.
• Controlled substance license and DEA registration as specified by department.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive appraisals of patients’ health status by taking health histories and performing physical examinations in clinical area.
• Provides direct clinical care to patients.
• Prescribes/orders medications, therapies; orders/interprets laboratory tests, x-rays and procedures according to clinical privileges.
• Evaluates patients to determine their need for further health care.
• Documents in the medical record all care and education provided and/or procedures performed for which the Licensed Advanced Practice Provider is responsible.
• Advocates for patients, families, coworkers, and the community.
