Northwestern Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to work in our Emergency Medicine department. The position offers a 3x12-hour shift schedule with rotating days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Essential responsibilities include delivering comprehensive patient care, collaborating with physicians and staff, and contributing to education, quality improvement, and research within the ED.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or an accredited PA program.
• Current Illinois RN license and Illinois APRN license (or PA license) with credentialing.
• APRN board certification or PA certification as approved to practice in Illinois.
• Emergency Medicine experience.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive health assessments including histories and physicals in the ED.
• Provides direct clinical care to patients in the Emergency Medicine department.
• Prescribes medications and orders tests and procedures per privileges.
• Educates patients and families about care plans and follow-up.
• Documents care and education in the medical record.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and participates in quality improvement.
