Job summary

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora seeks an accomplished academic physician educator to serve as Associate Vice Chair for Education. This role leads the education mission across UME, GME, and faculty development with emphasis on innovative tools, simulation, and data-driven outcomes.

The AVC-E will translate strategy into execution, build sustainable programs, and develop future education leaders while partnering across the School of Medicine and external affiliates.

Qualifications

• The candidate must hold an MD or DO and be eligible for Colorado medical licensure.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine is required with senior academic appointment.
• Demonstrated leadership in medical education and scholarship is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the department’s education mission and goals.
• Develop and sustain undergraduate and graduate medical education programs.
• advance curriculum innovation including simulation, AI, and evaluation methods.
• Mentor education leaders, recruit faculty, and plan succession for key programs.
• Represent the education portfolio to department and institutional leadership.
