Job summary

McHenry County College seeks day/night EMS Trainers to support the EMS program across McHenry County locations. Classes may include daytime, evening, or weekend sessions, with up to 29 hours per week per semester.

Instructors provide hands-on labs and theoretical instruction aligned with IDPH Rules and National EMS Education Standards. Applicants must hold an Illinois EMS license (EMT/Paramedic) or RN, maintain CPR for Healthcare Providers, and have at least 3 years of direct patient care.

Qualifications

• Illinois EMT/Paramedic/RN license required.
• CPR for Healthcare Provider required.
• Ability to obtain EMS System Protocol Competency.
• Minimum 3 years of direct patient care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in the EMS program under oversight.
• Teach skills labs per National EMS Education Standards and IDPH requirements.
• Available to teach daytime, evening, or weekend classes.
• Teach at various locations throughout McHenry County.
• Conduct student conferences as needed.
• Work cooperatively within the department and College.
• Regularly assess student learning.
• Use varied teaching styles to meet different learning styles.
• Maintain physical ability to perform duties.
