Job summary

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• State or national EMT-Basic certification required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required by state requirements.
• Must be able to read, write and communicate professionally; ability to write simple reports.
• Knowledge of EMS protocols and safety policies.
• Ability to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions.

Responsibilities

• Examine patients for signs of illness or injury and assist other medical personnel.
• Provide basic life support and transport patients per approved protocols.
• Handle patients safely when entering and exiting the ambulance.
• Transport patients to the medical facility in a safe and efficient manner.
• Document patient condition and treatments on EMS run reports.
• Maintain unit inventory and equipment readiness.
• Report needed repairs to maintenance and supervisors.
• Operate ambulance safely and follow driving guidelines.
• Attend mandatory meetings and complete assigned duties.
