Job summary

Acadian Ambulance Service provides timely pre-hospital basic life support and transport for the sick and injured in accordance with its standards of practice. The EMT-Basic will perform patient examinations, administer BLS, document care, and transport to the medical facility according to approved protocols.

Requirements include High School Diploma or GED, EMT-Basic certification, CPR, and a valid state driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• National and/or State EMT-Basic certification required.
• Current CPR certification (American Heart Association).
• Current and valid state driver’s license as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Examine patient for signs of illness or injury and assist other medical personnel.
• Provide basic life support and transport the patient following approved protocols.
• Safely load/unload patient and care information during transfer.
• Transport patient to medical facility and relay information to receiving staff.
• Document all patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

EMT-Basic certification (National and/or State)

CPR certification (AHA)

State driver’s license (as required)
