Job summary

Waverly Health Center in Iowa is seeking a skilled Emergency Medical Technician to provide critical pre‑hospital and hospital care. You will administer life support, assist with medications, and work under physician direction within the Iowa EMS scope of practice to stabilize patients.

The role requires EMT certification, English fluency, and a strong focus on safety, documentation, and teamwork. Weekend and holiday rotations may apply, with a 0.90 FTE over 36 hours weekly in 12‑hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited EMT program with valid Iowa EMT certification.
• Must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Driving Record.
• Prior EMT experience preferred.
• Knowledge of emergency care equipment, vehicle operation and advanced EMT‑P procedures.
• Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including online training, timesheet and appraisal systems.
• Must read, speak and write fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Administers life support care to sick and injured persons in pre‑hospital settings per physician direction and Iowa EMS scope.
• Provides hospital patient care within physician direction and Iowa EMS scope.
• Performs routine preventive maintenance on ambulance equipment and vehicles; completes daily checks.
• Maintains department living quarters and performs daily cleaning duties.
• Completes all required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
• Assists within the department with administrative duties and serves on committees as assigned.
• Promotes and maintains positive working relationships intra- and inter‑departmentally.
