Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position include supervising the health and cleanliness standards for the camp and working cooperatively with the Medical Director and Camp Staff to ensure adequate physical health conditions for all staff and camp participants. This role involves performing all duties outlined in this description and other responsibilities as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitor the health of all campers and staff.
  • Complete accident/incident reports when needed.
  • Communicate with parents regarding camper medical needs and maintain records of all parent communications.
  • Monitor health logs and accident/incident reports for risk management.
  • Evaluate camp procedures, facilities, and conditions.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Medical Director.
  • Ensure health history and physical examination forms are on file for staff and campers.
  • Check in camper and staff medications upon arrival following NY State Department of Health procedures.
  • Follow medical routines including record keeping, waste disposal, medication management, and utilizing standing orders.

Other Job Duties:

  • Support camp leadership to maintain a safe environment.
  • Follow applicable regulations and safety policies.
  • Proactively prevent accidents and communicate hazards.

Qualifications (Minimum Education and Experience):

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • EMT Certification required.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Proof of employment eligibility prior to start date.
  • Ability to interact with all age groups.
  • Flexible working hours.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Understanding of medical needs of children and young adults in outdoor settings.
  • Experience working in outdoor/recreational environments.
  • Ability to maintain health care records and implement health plans.
  • Positive relation to youth and adults.
  • Knowledge of camp program areas.

Physical Aspects of the Job:

  • Effective communication and instruction skills.
  • Ability to respond to environmental hazards and emergencies.
  • Physical ability to assist in emergencies, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, and exposure to outdoor elements.
