Job summary

AdventHealth in Orlando, FL is seeking a Full-Time Emergency Vehicle Operator/EMT to join our night-shift transport team. You will communicate with dispatch, assist with prehospital care, and transport patients while maintaining accurate documentation.

Required EMT/BLS certifications, valid DL (CDL acceptable), and 1+ year EMS experience are preferred. The role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional development within a faith-based healthcare system.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Communicates delays and updates to dispatch and reports vehicle issues.
  • Adheres to SOPs and maintains patient documentation.
  • Transports patients and provides patient care; reports to RN/paramedics.
  • Operates emergency vehicles safely under various conditions.
  • Completes patient care records within 24 hours.

Job Description:

  • Communicates delays and updates to dispatch and reports any damage or vehicle issues to the supervisor immediately.

  • Adheres to department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensures patient documentation is accurate, complete, and in compliance at all times.

  • Communicates findings and patient conditions to aligned registered nurses, paramedics, and personnel.

  • Assists crew with set up and preparation of ventilator, cardiac monitor, IV line, and pumps.

  • Responsible for charting documentation and patient care with BLS patients.

  • Provides receiving staff with a full patient report.

  • Monitors patient conditions and aggregates data.

  • Completes patient care record within state allotted time (24 hrs).

  • Assists with patient mobilization, ambulation, and transport.

  • Maintains equipment between transports and keeps the unit in a constant state of readiness.

  • Operates emergency vehicles safely in various weather and emergent conditions according to established safety standards.

  • Utilizes appropriate medical equipment and comprehends injury/medical severity.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to clearly communicate patient conditions, status, and arrival times with medical care facilities that receive patients [Required]

  • Ability to analyze and assess data, techniques, methodology, equipment operations, and quality control to ensure that information is obtained and presented accurately [Required]

  • Ability to determine life threatening conditions [Required]

  • Provides appropriate emergency care and transports the patient, when necessary [Required]

  • Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English [Required]

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office [Required]


Education:

  • High School Grad or Equiv ([Required]

  • Associate [Preferred]


Field of Study:

  • in a health-related field


Work Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience emergency vehicle operations [Preferred]

  • 2+ years of technical experience [Preferred]

  • Ambulance transport experience [Preferred]


Additional Information:

  • Must complete a 16-hr emergency vehicle operations training program.

  • Must have graduated from an EMT program


Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]

  • Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required] OR EMT-Advanced (EMT-A) [Required]

  • Driver's License (DL) [Required] OR Commercial Drivers License (CDL) [Required]

  • Commercial Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) [Preferred] OR Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) [Preferred]
