Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to respond to emergencies, assess and treat patients, and relay critical information to medical staff. You will perform basic medical exams, administer care at the scene and en route to the hospital, and operate EMS equipment within the licensed scope of practice.

The role requires EMT or higher licensure, BCLS certification within one month, and valid driving privileges with appropriate MVR history.

Qualifications

• State licensure/certification as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher in the appropriate state of practice.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within one month of hire.
• Must have 2 years driving experience (MVR).
• Dual Minnesota/Wisconsin licensure required for Wisconsin locations.

Responsibilities

• Communicate patient status and ETA to receiving facility.

Building Location:Sandstone EMSDepartment:1454270 AMBULANCE - PMC EMSJob Description:Responds to emergent and non-emergent calls, assesses the situation, assesses and treats patients for emergency needs; reports patient information to medical staff in a timely and accurate manner. Obtains a basic medical history and physical examination of the patient, and assesses the situation's urgency and seriousness. Provides emergency care at the scene and during transit to the hospital. Utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertains the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicates with the medical care facility about the patient's condition, status and time of arrival. May be requested to provide patient care in the hospital setting performing tasks delegated by the RN based on the scope of the individual’s training and capabilities.
