Job summary

Essentia Health seeks a Health Unit Coordinator to organize non-nursing tasks, improve unit productivity, and deliver excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.

The role involves clerical duties, scheduling support, and coordination of supplies and services within the assigned hospital unit. Experience in a hospital or clinic setting is preferred. Education is flexible with potential training in a health unit coordinator program.

Qualifications

• Experience or training in a hospital/clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.
• No formal education required; if none, 1 year experience or training in a hospital/clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.

Job Description

Education Qualifications: This position plans, organizes, and implements the non-nursing functions of assigned unit(s) to facilitate workflow, enhance unit productivity, and provide excellent customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff. Position promotes efficient unit function and indirect resident care. Performs clerical and reception duties; requisition supplies, equipment, and services as directed; assist with scheduling; may be assigned to observe telemetry monitor when indicated notifying patient’s caregiver of any changes; and other duties as assigned.

Preferred candidates will have experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist. No educational requirement. Preferred candidates will have Completion of a health unit coordinator program or medical secretary program If no formal education we will require 1 year experience or training in a hospital or clinic setting as a health unit coordinator, medical secretary, or medical receptionist.
