Job summary

911 Emergency Communications in Fountain Valley, CA seeks Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support urgent medical calls. You will gather patient and incident details, establish response priorities, and coordinate EMS resources using an approved dispatch system.

Depending on training and assignment, you may provide protocol-based instructions before responders arrive, following medical dispatch protocols and oversight requirements. Shift work and overtime may be involved.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.
• EMD certification may be required; CPR certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm the patient’s location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about the patient’s condition.
• Determine response priority through the authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
