Job summary

911 Emergency Communications in Newport Beach seeks Emergency Medical Dispatchers to support callers in urgent medical situations. You will gather patient and incident details, establish response priorities, coordinate EMS resources, and follow agency-approved protocols to provide safe, protocol-driven instructions.

This role may include overnight shifts, weekend work, holidays, rotating schedules, and overtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent commonly required.
• CPR certification may be required.
• EMT or paramedic credentials are not universal requirements; consult vacancy for exact qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Receive calls involving illness, injury, and other medical emergencies.
• Confirm patient location, callback number, and access details.
• Ask approved questions about patient condition.
• Determine response priority through authorized medical dispatch system.
• Dispatch or coordinate ambulance resources when included in the assignment.
• Provide protocol-based instructions within current qualifications.
• Relay patient information and scene hazards to responding personnel.
• Document call processing and participate in quality-review activities.
