Georgia Department of Public Health in Albany, Georgia seeks an Emergency Management Specialist/Training Coordinator, Level 1 or 2, to support the Southwest Public Health District 8-2. This in-office role requires commitment to public health training and emergency readiness.

The position plans and coordinates drills and exercises, assesses training needs, and ensures compliance with state and federal guidelines. Some evening/weekend work and HIPAA compliance are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, emergency management, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university, AND Two years of experience, OR a High School diploma or GED, AND Two years of experience in emergency management.
• Physical requirements include occasional lifting of up to 45 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Serves the 14-county health district
• Assesses training needs of staff and community partners
• Plans and coordinates training sessions, drills, and exercises
• Utilizes exercises meeting state and federal guidelines/standards as training activities
• Evaluates training and learning outcomes
• Participates in general Emergency Preparedness planning and response activities
• May require weekend and/or evening work
• Provides excellent customer service and maintains HIPAA standards
• Responds to Public Health Emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous employment with any state’s Department of Public Health or a County Board of Health
• Computer skills (Office suite)
• Greater than one year of experience providing training or instructional services in a functional area
• The ability to hitch, tow, and back a trailer
• Experience developing collaborations/partnerships
• Emergency Preparedness Experience
• NIMS/ICS Courses: 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800
• WEBEOC, GHA911, and ReadyOp Communication system experience
• Bilingual-Spanish and English
