Job summary

Port Houston is seeking an Emergency Management professional to assist in preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation. You will support development of emergency plans, participate in drills, and help manage equipment at the Port Coordination Center.

The role requires 2+ years in EM or related field, plus NIMS 100/200/700/800 and FEMA PDS within set timelines. Strong planning, communication, and cross-agency collaboration skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years in Emergency Management or related field or enrollment in relevant degree program.
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 required.
  • NIMS 300, 400 required within 1 year of employment.
  • FEMA Professional Development Series certificate within 2 years of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining EMP and related annexes.
  • Conduct system checks of EOC and other equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of departmental supplies and resources.
  • Assist with planning and organizing drills/exercises.
  • Incorporate lessons learned into processes from after-action reviews.
  • Establish relationships with local, state, and federal partners for training.
  • Prepare reports and special studies as assigned by Emergency Manager.
  • Participate in meetings and engagements to stay current on EM trends.
  • Support Port Houston core values in daily activities.
  • Perform other duties as required to support EMS.
