Job summary

Cameron County is seeking a Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator to lead planning and execution of emergency response programs. The role requires coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies and possibly licensure as a police officer and arson investigator under Cameron County Fire Marshal Service.

The position involves on-call duty for fire investigations, public communications, and representing the County at meetings while supporting disaster readiness and response activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Licensed police officer or able to obtain license within 1 year of employment (TCOLE).
• Licensed fire inspector and arson investigator preferred (TCFP).

Responsibilities

• Plans and coordinates emergency management activities for Cameron County.
• Implements and updates the Cameron County Emergency Management Plan.
• Coordinates emergency exercises and training sessions with agencies.
• Develops emergency management classes for volunteers, schools, and organizations.
• Serves as liaison with State and Federal partners on intergovernmental issues.
