Job summary

Whitman County is seeking a Deputy Director of Emergency Management to organize and direct operations across Emergency Management and Emergency Communications. The person will assume the Director's responsibilities when the Director is absent.

A valid driver’s license is required, and the role includes mandatory ICS/EMI coursework within specified timeframes. A criminal background check is required for employment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, leadership, public administration or like degree.
• Eight (8) years of full-time experience in emergency management or closely related public safety field.
• All candidates must have successfully completed Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200, IS 700 and IS 800 courses.

Responsibilities

• Assist in organizing and directing the operations of the Emergency Management and Emergency Communications Departments.
• Assume the Directors responsibilities in the Directors absence.
