Job summary

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a Capital Projects Coordinator to join the Emergency Contracting team within the Construction Management Division in Seattle. You will coordinate emergency repairs for SPU assets, overseeing contracts, permits, and construction while maintaining schedule and safety.

The role requires a minimum of three years in project or construction management and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years in project or construction management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning, or a related field.
• Experience reviewing utility construction plans and using GIS software.

Responsibilities

• Manage capital projects from scoping through closeout, ensuring schedule, budget, and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare scopes of work, manage consultants, oversee design development and cost estimates.
• Coordinate permits and provide project information to stakeholders and regulators.
• Develop work plans, evaluate risks, and support decision-making for governing bodies.
• Administer public works construction contracts, inspections, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily documentation.
• Review bids, negotiate contractor proposals, and prepare cost estimates in collaboration with FAS on awards.
• Coordinate with City departments, agencies, contractors, businesses, and communities while promoting safety.
