Job summary

Avera Health in Sioux Falls, SD, seeks a pharmacist to ensure safe, effective, and economical medication use for patients of all ages. You will prepare and dispense prescriptions, advise clinicians on drug therapies, and monitor patient regimens while maintaining compliance with policies and regulations.

You will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and residents, oversee technicians, and contribute to education and clinical initiatives to advance patient care at Avera.

Qualifications

• Active pharmacist license in the state of practice within 30 days.
• Ability to work the hours specified (Day/Evening/Weekend/Holiday shifts).
• Experience in data collection, adverse drug reaction reporting, and drug utilization evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Performs and evaluates functions related to pharmacy services such as preparing and dispensing medications.
• Interprets and processes medication orders for contraindications, interactions, allergies, and appropriateness.
• Monitors medication therapy and analyzes lab data to ensure safe patient care.
• Counsels patients on proper medication use, effects, and potential adverse effects.
• Oversees pharmacy staff and interns and mentors students and technicians.
• Ensures compliance with regulations and organizational policies.
