Job summary

DeKalb County is recruiting a Firefighter to respond to emergencies, suppress fires, perform rescues and protect lives and property in the community.

The role requires a High School Diploma or GED, a Georgia driver’s license, GA State Firefighter Certification, NPQ Firefighter II and EMT-B, plus ongoing training, safety compliance and physical fitness.

This safety-sensitive position involves drug testing and coordination with multiple agencies to ensure rapid, coordinated emergency response.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Georgia driver’s license, Georgia State Firefighter Certification, NPQ Firefighter II and EMT-B required.
• Additional certifications may be required as deemed necessary by Fire Rescue career path.

Responsibilities

• Responds to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, and other emergencies.
• Provides protection of life and property; conducts search, rescue, and forcible entry.
• Maintains equipment readiness and participates in drills and continuing education.
