Qualifications

• Fire dispatch certification or related coursework may be required for certain posts.
• Comfort with computer systems, data entry, maps and radio communications.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazards.
• Verify incident locations, access information and risks.
• Alert stations and dispatch units using approved response plans.
• Monitor radio channels, unit status and incident updates.
• Relay occupant, hazard and condition information as it changes.
• Process requests for additional resources per procedures.
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned.
• Record dispatch times and unit movements.
