Job summary

911 Emergency Communications in the United States is seeking qualified fire dispatchers to coordinate responses for fires, rescues, and other emergencies from a centralized communications center. You will receive incident details, relay instructions to responding crews, and maintain situational awareness through radio and CAD systems.

The role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy in data entry, and the ability to work rotating shifts, including overnights and holidays when major

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED commonly required.
• Familiarity with computer systems and accurate data entry.
• Fire dispatch certification may be required for particular assignments.
• Ability to work rotating or night shifts and adapt to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Receive and document reports of fires, rescues, alarms, and hazardous conditions
• Verify incident locations, access information, and reported risks
• Alert stations and dispatch apparatus using approved response assignments
• Monitor radio channels, unit availability, and incident status
• Relay information about occupants, hazards, and changing conditions
• Process requests for additional resources through established procedures
• Coordinate mutual-aid communications when assigned
• Record dispatch times, unit movements, and significant incident updates
