Job summary

Pafford Emergency Medical Services (PEMS) is seeking a full-time Telecommunicator for a 9-1-1 dispatch center. You will receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency calls, determine needs, and coordinate with responders to ensure rapid, accurate dispatch.

The role requires calm under pressure, teamwork, and strong written and spoken communication. Background checks and drug screening are required; on-site night, weekend, and holiday shifts are common.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written).
• Capable of handling multiple emergency and administrative calls in high-stress environment.
• Able to follow procedures, recall references, and document accurately.

Responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize, and handle multiple, simultaneous emergency and administrative phone calls.
• Process requests for emergency and non-emergency ambulance service.
• Identify the nature of the problem through targeted questioning.
• Summarize critical information for dispatch with correct grammar and punctuation.
