Pafford Emergency Medical Services (PEMS) seeks a part-time Telecommunicator/Emergency Call Taker to manage high-stress 9-1-1 dispatch operations in a secured center. The role involves handling both emergency and non-emergency calls, prioritizing responses, and coordinating with public safety personnel.

A background in customer service and the ability to pass a background check and drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Customer service or public relations experience preferred.
• Criminal background check and drug screening required before training.

Responsabilités

• Receive, prioritize, and handle multiple emergency and administrative calls for assistance (e.g., car accidents, medical emergencies, hospital transfers).
• Process requests for emergency and non-emergency ambulance service using reference materials, maps, and procedures.
• Identify caller problem through questioning and summarize information for dispatch in the database with correct grammar and spelling.
• Relay information to public safety responders and other agencies, using appropriate formats and channels.
• Operate computer terminals and access databases; communicate effectively by radio and phone under pressure.
